Bihar government is set to release major block level recruitments in 2026. The most awaited is BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) for Block Development Officer (BDO) posts. Apart from BDO, Panchayat Sachiv and Vikas Mitra vacancies are also being filled across all districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Darbhanga and others.

Eligibility Criteria, Age Limit & Total Posts (Updated May 2026)
BDO (BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Exam) : Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Age limit is 21 to 37 years for General male candidates (as on 01.08.2026). Upper age relaxation is applicable – up to 42 years for BC/EBC/SC/ST/Female candidates with Bihar domicile. Expected vacancies: 150+ posts.
Panchayat Sachiv : Minimum 12th pass or Graduate. Age 18–37 years with relaxation as per Bihar government rules. Recruitment is done district-wise through Panchayati Raj Department. Good opportunity for 12th pass and graduate youth.
Vikas Mitra : Minimum 10th or 12th pass. Age 18–40 years. Selection is based on merit and document verification at block level. Fixed honorarium of ₹24,000 per month.
📅 BDO Exam Date 2026 (BPSC 72nd)
Preliminary Examination (tentative): 26 July 2026. Mains examination is likely in November 2026. Candidates are advised to start preparation focusing on Bihar GK, Current Affairs, and General Studies.

BDO: Pay Level 9 (₹56,100 – 1,77,500) + DA, HRA, Medical, NPS, Travel Allowance. In-hand salary approximately ₹65,000 – 75,000 per month depending on posting and allowances.
Panchayat Sachiv: ₹25,000 – 40,000 per month + benefits.
